Abstract:

Some studies related to perfectionism showed that imperfect objects often caused individual's imperfection anxiety. Combined with the perspective of ecological psychology, imperfection anxiety might also be affected by the context where the imperfect object was located. The current study aimed to investigate imperfection anxiety in contexts with different sense of order by combining interview method, questionnaire method and the experimental method. We developed the questionnaire to measure the imperfection anxiety led by imperfect objects in certain contexts，and the results showed that: (1) The imperfect object and the contexts which the object was located in could simultaneously affect individual's imperfection anxiety; (2) With the increasing sense of order of the contexts, the imperfection anxiety caused by the imperfect object was also increasing.
