Abstract:

This study aimed to revise the Self-Stigma of Depression Scale (SSDS) with 1020 Chinese College Students. The scale consisted of 11 items, and the exploratory factor analysis produced 3 factors including meaningless, help-Seeking Inhibition and shame, which accumulatively explained the variance of total variance by 73.01%. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the three-factor model fit the data well. Internal consistency reliability of total scale and Three factors ranged from 0.78~0.92, and test-retest reliability ranged from 0.72~0.84. All in all, the revised SSDS  is reliable, valid, and suitable for measuring depression self-stigma in this group.
