Influence of Intergroup Contact on Perceived Social Justice and the Mediating Effect of Group Attitude

Abstract: This study mainly focused on the effect of intergroup contact on social justice and the mediating effect of group attitude. The study collected data from university students based on questionnaire method and got 198 effective samples in total. Under the controlling of the variables such as gender and age, hierarchical regression results showed: (1) For university students from Shanghai or other cities, intergroup contact can affect group attitude significantly. Students with a higher intergroup contact level tend to have more positive group attitude. (2) For university students from other cities, intergroup contact can affect social justice significantly. Students with a higher intergroup contact level tend to perceive the social fairer, and group attitude mediates the effect between intergroup contact and social justice. (3) For university students from Shanghai, intergroup contact has no significant effect on social justice.
