Classifications and Causes of Gender Stereotypes in Computers

Abstract:

Gender stereotypes are fixed ideas about gender groups. They have attracted worldwide attention, because they will produce negative impacts on gender equality in society. In the past, related researches of gender stereotypes focused on human beings. With the advances of science and technology, computers have also emerged gender stereotypes, which are often ignored by people. Based on these, we distinguish two kinds of gender stereotypes in computers and then expound the previous findings, causes, and methods of intervention. Future researches can continue to explore other fields of gender stereotypes in computers, verify the effectiveness of interventions, promote gender equality in real society and the virtual world on the basis of classification.
