Abstract: Some studies have found that sweet taste is associated with romantic emotion, and sweetness could influence semantic processing of romance, but it is not clear whether the activation of the romance semantic could influence sweetness perception. The aim of thisstudywas to investigate the effect of romantic semantic processing on sweet taste perception using the repeated measurement design. Forty-three participants completed the true and false lexical judgment and the assessment of the degree of sweetness. The results showed that the scores of sweetness in the condition of romantic words were significantly higher than those inthe condition of positive but not romantic word and neutral words, indicating that romantic semantic priming has a promotion effect of sweetness.

Key words: semantic processing, affective priming, sweet taste perception, romance, embodied cognition
