Abstract: Modern social psychology has been focusing on employing elegant research designs to draw minor conclusions limited to finite scopes. It is beautiful but feeble, losing its theoretical explanation and practical influence on major social issues. Thus, all social psychologists as an academic community utter little sound in public policymaking and everyday life of social members. This is the real crisis that hinders the further development of social psychology in China. We suggest that Chinese social psychologists should endeavor to develop a policy-oriented discipline that fully participating in the modernization process of national governance. This discipline should devote itself to satisfy the strategic demands of the whole nation and nudge the improvement of social governance capability so that social psychology in China could gain substantial boosts. This branch of social psychology aims to provide better psychological insights into the social phenomenon and actively seeks its influence on the public policy process to construct beautiful and practical social psychology with Chinese features.
