Four experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of power and frame on risk seeking and test the mediating role of construal level. Firstly, the moderating role of frame was explored( Experiment 1);Secondly, two experiments were designed to test the effect of power on construal level(Experiment2A), and the effect of construal level on risk seeking (Experiment2B). Lastly, Experiment 3 provided converging evidence to support the moderating role of frame and mediating role of construal level(via mediation analysis) in the effect of power on risk-seeking,with different power priming methods and ruling out the alternative explanation of the emotion. The results showed that, there was a significant interaction effect between power and frame on the risk seeking, specifically, under the loss frame, both high-power and low-power were more risky, and high-power was even more risky than low-power; under the gain frame, both high-power and low-power intended to be conservative. Furthermore, the results showed that the power influenced the construal level, and the construal level influenced the risk seeking. These findings suggest that frame plays the moderating role and the construal level plays the partial mediating role in the effect of power on risk seeking, in addition, the results can be regarded as the direct empirical evidence for the power theory of social distance.

    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2019, 7 (4):  208-219.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2019.04.002

To study the inner psychological mechanism of assortative mating concept, this article   explored the effects of the role of control striving and economic environment stress on the relationship between the sense of security and marriage match based on the life history theory. We choose the Security Questionnaire,  the Assortative Mating Concept Questionnaire, the Primary-Secondary Control Optimization Scale, the questionnaire on the socioeconomic status of childhood and the Subjective Socioeconomic Status Scale. The results showed that control striving played an intermediary role between the sense of security and assortative mating concept, and childhood economic environment stress played a regulatory role in the sense of security and assortative mating concept. The current economic environment stress regulation effect is not significant, but high current economic environment stress individuals assortative mating concept is significantly lower than individuals with low current economic environment stress.

Emotional Predictions of Future Events of College Students with Different Attributional Styles: Working Models and Constraints
    CHEN Yanfei, LIU Yan,
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2019, 7 (4):  220-228.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2019.04.003
    Abstract ( 514 )   PDF(pc) (579KB) ( 964 )   Save
To explore the working models of attributional styles on emotion predictions of future events and possible constraints,  107 students  were selected from a university to  fill in the Attributional Style Questionnaire (ASQ) and the Trait Anxiety Inventory (T-AI). They experienced one of emotion induction (sad vs. neutral) then, and finally predicted the likelihood of a series of positive and negative events in the future. The results showed that : (1) Attributional styles could significantly predict the likelihood of positive and negative events, and the effect of attribution style on the likelihood of negative events will be constrained by external emotional stimuli; (2) For individuals with typically optimistic or pessimistic attributional tendencies, external emotional stimuli had no constraint on their emotional predictions; (3) Trait anxiety had a partial mediating effect between the attributional styles and the likelihood of future positive events; and it had a full mediating effect between the attributional style and the likelihood of future negative events. The results indicated that compared with external emotional information, attributional style, plays a major role in predicting future emotional events and influences the emotional prediction of future events through trait anxiety.

The Mediating Effects of Academic Selfefficacy on the Relationship between Achievement Goal and Selfdirected Learning:Evidence from the Senior High School Students
    CHEN Xiaoxin, LIANG Jianling
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2019, 7 (4):  229-236.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2019.04.004
    Abstract ( 503 )   PDF(pc) (611KB) ( 614 )   Save
To explore the relationship among achievement goal, academic self-efficacy and self-directed learning,a total of 936 senior high school students were investigated with Achievement Goal Orientation Scale,Academic Self-efficacy Scale and Self-directed Learning Readiness Scale. The results indicated as following:(1)The mastery goal and performance approach goal were positively correlated with self-directed learning, and the performance avoidance goal negatively correlated with self-directed learning. The learning ability self-efficacy and learning activity self-efficacy were positively correlated with self-directed learning. (2) Different achievement goals had different influence paths on self-directed learning. The learning ability self-efficacy and learning activity self-efficacy had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between the mastery goal/performance avoidance goal and self-directed learning. The learning ability self-efficacy had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between performance approach goal and self-directed learning. The result suggested that achievement goal could not only directly influence self-directed learning for senior high school students but  also indirectly impact on self-directed learning through academic self-efficacy.

    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2019, 7 (4):  249-256.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2019.04.006
    Abstract ( 556 )   PDF(pc) (585KB) ( 1256 )   Save
Traumatic events are events that are sudden, highly destructive, uncontrollable, and put enormous pressure on individuals. Repetitive, one-sided and destructive news reports on traumatic events can bring traumatic experiences to the public and affect their subjective well-being, which may encourage some individuals to adopt negative self-defense methods to defend against relevant news reports. In order to effectively prevent the occurrence of public psychological trauma and reduce the negative impact of inappropriate reports on indirect victims of traumatic events, this paper comprehensively combs the negative impact that news reports of traumatic events may bring to the public, and proposes that news media workers need to use the frame effects of news reports and adopt constructive news communication methods to bring the public news reports with psychological care and  the spirit of humanism. Thus, it can create a positive, healthy atmosphere of news reports.
