Abstract: To explore the moderating effect of meaning in life on the relationship between cyber victimization and suicide ideation among university students, 420 college students from four Guangdong universities were investigated with EVictimization Scale (EVS), Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) and Beck Scale for Suicide IdeationChinese Version (BSICV). The moderate model was tested by the PROCESS program. The simple slope was tested by JohnsonNeymans method. The results indicated that: ①The rate of having cyber victimization in the prior week was 64.3%(270/420); The rate of having suicidal ideation in the prior week was 11.2%(47/420); ②Cyber victimization predicted suicidal ideation of university students positively (β=0.14, p<0.001); ③Meaning in life served to moderate the relationship between cyber victimization and suicidal ideation (β=-0.014, p<0.001), whose effect size was 4. 1%. It suggests that meaning in life could buffer the negative effect of cyber victimization on suicide ideation of university students.

Key words: cyber victimization, suicidal ideation, meaning in life, moderation effect
