The Influence of Covert Narcissism on Aggressive Driving Behavior

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of covert narcissism on driver's aggressive behavior and the mediating role of driver's anger cognition. Narcissistic personality questionnaire, driver aggression questionnaire and driving anger cognitive questionnaire were used to measure the participants. The data were analyzed by correlation analysis, regression analysis and mediating effect analysis. Results showed that there was no correlation between all dimensions of overt narcissism and the expression of driver's physical and vehicle attack. Only covert narcissism privilege can significantly predict the expression of driver's physical attack and vehicle attack among the three dimensions of covert narcissism. The thoughts of revenge in driver's anger cognition played mediating roles in the covert narcissistic privilege and the use of vehicle expression.
