Abstract: In order to explore the relationship between stressful life events and online game addiction among college students, as well as the satisfaction of basic psychological needs and the role of social support in the relationship, 617 college students in Hunan province were investigated by using the Online Game Addiction Scale, Adolescent Life Events Scale, Chinese Version of Basic Psychological Needs questionnaire and Perceived Social Support Scale. The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between stressful life events and the tendency of online game addiction. Basic psychological needs satisfaction played a part in mediating the relationship between stressful life events and online game addiction. Understanding that social support regulates the mediating role of basic psychological need satisfaction in the relationship between stressful life events and online game addiction, specifically, it regulates the front part of the mediation model. Therefore, there is a moderated mediating model between college students stressful life events and their addiction tendency to online games.

Key words: college students, stressful life events, basic psychological needs satisfaction, perceived social support, internet game addiction
