Positive Psychology Intervention on College Students Based on Written Emotional Disclosure Paradigm

Abstract:

Written Emotional Disclosure (WED) is a research paradigm that helps people express their inner emotions through writing. Based on the WED paradigm, we designed a self-help emotion intervention program for college students, with a writing topic of positive psychological content to explore its effect on improving positive psychological qualities and alleviating mental health problems. Sixty-eight college students were randomly divided into the intervention group and wait-list control group, and then the intervention group received writing guidance and recorded the weekly theme once a week for three consecutive weeks. The results showed that the intervention improved college students' psychological resilience and subjective happiness scores, and significantly reduced depression scores. The anxiety score was not significantly reduced. The results indicate that the self-help program is effective in promoting positive psychological qualities and reducing mental health problems among college students.
