Abstract:
To investigate the influence and mechanism of rumination on learning burnout, we conducted a questionnaire survey among 680 middle school students utilizing the Ruminative Responses Scale, Learning Burnout Scale, Resilience Scale, and Meaning in Life Scale. The main findings of this study were as follows: (1) Rumination significantly positively predicted learning burnout. (2) Resilience played a mediating role in the relationship between rumination and learning burnout. (3) Meaning in life moderated the direct effect of rumination on learning burnout. Drawing upon the strength model of self-control, this study unveiled the internal mechanism of learning burnout in middle school students. It provided a reference for the prevention and intervention of learning burnout in middle school students.
Key words: rumination, learning burnout, resilience, meaning in life, middle school students
