The Structure and Psychometric Valuation of Selftranscendence Meaning of Life Scale in Chinese Middle School Students and College Students:An Analyzing Perspective from Taoist Philosophy and Buddhist Philosophy
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (2):  65-72.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.02.001

The study explored the structure of selftranscendence meaning of life (SMLS) compiled by Li Hong, and evaluated the reliability and validity of it. The results showed that exploratory factor analysis extracted two common factors“got the meaning of the failure” and “detached from success or failure”, and it matched the two theoretical foundations of Taoist philosophy and Buddhist philosophy according to SMLS scale; confirmatory factor analysis also showed that the scale of the twodimensional structure model is superior to the unidimensional structure model. Scale scores and the score of each factor from twodimensional structure model had a significantly positive correlation with the index of mental health and good criterionrelated validity; the combination reliability and internal consistency reliability of the scale met psychometric requirements. Finally, based on the correlation coefficient between the two factors of SMLS and mental health, the relationship between the Buddhist philosophy, Taoism philosophy, Confucianism and mental health was analyzed in theory. Therefore, the study reveals that SMLS is a twodimensional structure with good reliability and validity, which can be used as a tool to measure selftranscendence meaning of life among middle school students and college students.

The Impact of Financial Literacy on Undergraduates Participation in Stock Market: The Mediating Role of Confidence Level
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (2):  73-80.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.02.002

The latest studies have found that the financial literacy has a positive impact on stock market participation, but few studies explain the mechanism of the two variables. To tackle this problem, this paper, based on the previous studies, further researches on confidence level as a mediator to explain specifically how financial literacy influences stock market participation. We examined research questions using a sample of 105 students and the results showed that: (1) Advanced financial literacy has a significant positive effect on stock market participation. (2) Confidence level mediates the link between advanced financial literacy and stock market participation.

The Relationships between Smoking and Drinking Behaviors and Impulsivity Traits among University Freshmen
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (2):  81-88.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.02.003
    Abstract ( 346 )   PDF(pc) (619KB) ( 536 )   Save
The present study aimed to explore the relationships between smoking, drinking and different impulsivity traits among university freshmen. A total of 1281 freshman students randomly selected in a local university were assessed with the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence, the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test, the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale, and the UPPSP impulsive behavior scale. The results showed that: (1) the rate of smokers was 5. 9% and the rate of drinkers was 19.5%. Males were more involved into smoking and drinking than females; (2) Logistic regression analyses controlling for demographic variables showed that negative urgency and positive urgency were risk factors for smoking, and sensation seeking was the risk factor for drinking. We concluded that different impulsive traits might be diversely linked to freshmen smoking and drinking behaviors.

The Influence of College Students Autonomy Strategies on Learning Performance with Moderating Effect of Learning Motivation
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (2):  89-98.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.02.004
    Abstract ( 385 )   PDF(pc) (610KB) ( 832 )   Save
Students should combine learning motivation and autonomy strategy to achieve learning performance, but researchers can not highlight its mechanisms. In this research, 699 college students are sampled and a series of regression analysis were conducted to explore the relationship among learning motivation, learning autonomy and performance with several variables were controlled, such as learning circumstance, teacher, learning difficulty, and learning time. The results indicate that learning autonomy is the vital way to facilitate learning performance as a key factor, while deep and achieving motivation can moderate it positively and surface motivation does insignificantly.

Gender Stereotype Threat Effect on Children's Choice of Task Difficulty and Task Performance
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (2):  99-107.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.02.005
    Abstract ( 407 )   PDF(pc) (614KB) ( 568 )   Save
When members of one gender group are targeted by negative stereotypes, threaten feeling can be elicited that might profoundly influence the members cognition. Sixty kindergarten children were randomly chosen and they participated in present study which used implicit stereotype threat task and the Binet pattern and verbal tasks to examine the impact of the gender stereotype threat on the childrens choice of task difficulty as well as the task performance. The results showed that: (1) the experimental group which received the implicit stereotype threat chose significantly lower task difficulty than the control group. (2) As for the task performance, the experimental group get lower scores significantly than the control group on verbal tasks. In light of the reduction of task difficulty the experimental group chose representing the lower expectancy on performance, we concluded that gender stereotype threat impacts the childrens selfefficiency negatively, thereby undermines the experimental groups performance on the cognitive tasks.

Effects of Marital Conflict on Children's Social Skill: Mediating Role of Parenting Style
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (2):  108-114.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.02.006

The paper was to explore the effects and mechanism of marital conflict, parenting style on children social skill. 435 children were investigated by marital conflict questionnaire, parenting style questionnaire and social skill questionnaire. The Results showed that: (1) Both marital conflict, parenting style were significantly correlated to children social skill; (2) Marital conflict not only affected children social skill, but also had indirect effect on children social skill through the mediation effects of parenting style. Parenting style played a partial mediating role in the relationship between marital conflict and childrens social skills.

The Secrets behind ‘Sweet Guy’:Concepts, Theories and Consequences of Psychological Warmth
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (2):  115-125.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.02.007
    Abstract ( 473 )   PDF(pc) (663KB) ( 905 )   Save
Psychological warmth is a vital concept in the area of social cognition. The present study has proved that there are shared neural mechanisms underlying psychological warmth and physical warmth. Besides, psychological warmth and physical warmth influence each other, and the connections of them can be illustrated by Conceptual Metaphor Theory. Warmth and competence are now considered to be the two fundamental dimensions of social cognition. Based on this model, abundant studies indicated that the four combinations of high versus low warmth and competence judgments could elicit different emotional and behavioral responses. In addition, psychological warmth has its unique effect in organizations and it often interacts with other organizational variables. The further study can focus on following points: (1) paying attention to the intercultural implications; (2) trying to break away from warmthcompetence model; (3) exploring other factors; (4) opening up research on effects between psychological warmth and its opposite; (5) deepening research of psychological warmth from the perspective of cognitive neuroscience and (6) reinforcing research of psychological warmths function in organization situations.
