Effects of Marital Conflict on Children's Social Skill: Mediating Role of Parenting Style

Abstract: The paper was to explore the effects and mechanism of marital conflict, parenting style on children social skill. 435 children were investigated by marital conflict questionnaire, parenting style questionnaire and social skill questionnaire. The Results showed that: (1) Both marital conflict, parenting style were significantly correlated to children social skill; (2) Marital conflict not only affected children social skill, but also had indirect effect on children social skill through the mediation effects of parenting style. Parenting style played a partial mediating role in the relationship between marital conflict and childrens social skills.
