    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (3):  181-189.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.03.008
    Abstract ( 289 )   PDF(pc) (670KB) ( 458 )   Save
Mate copying (ormate choice copying) is a kind of phenomenon when one person choose his or her mate, his or her evaluation of the opposite sex will be affected by the same sex. Individuals tend to use this strategy to make judgments when they have insufficient information about the value of potential mates. Lots of factors affected mate copying, such as gender, age, attraction, character and so on. As far as we know, social learning theory and public information theory are the probable psychological mechanisms. The direction for future study on mate copying is suggested on following three aspects: firstly, exploring features of mate copying in Chinese culture context and carrying on the comparative study of multicultural background; then, expanding the methodology with fMRI and EEG to explore the age effect; further, trying to improve ecological validity by creating real dating interaction or real dating games.
