Abstract: As an important part of self-awareness, self-esteem plays an important role in predicting mental health. However, previous studies on the mechanism between adolescent suicide and self-esteem were still very limited. This research adopted the method of cluster sampling with 314 five and six grade pupils in order to explore the relationship between self-esteem and suicide ideation in high-grade pupils and the mediating roles of social anxiety and doubt learning value. The results showed that: (1) Self-esteem was negatively correlated to social anxiety, doubt learning value and suicide ideation. Social anxiety and doubt learning value were positively correlated to suicide ideation. (2) Self-esteem negatively predicted suicide ideation directly. Meanwhile, social anxiety and doubt learning value played the partial mediating roles in the relationship between self-esteem and suicide ideation in high-grade pupils. These findings suggested that we should pay more attention to cultivate childrens self-esteem and help children with peer interaction problems and learning difficulties in the practical work to guide them grow up healthily and comprehensively.
