The association between gratitude and prosocial behavior:A systematic review and meta-analysis
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2018, 6 (7):  385-405.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2018.07.001

A meta-analysis was conducted to explore the effect of trait and state gratitude on prosocial behavior, as well as the factors affecting this relationship. Through Chinese and English literature retrieval, 99 cases and 136 independent effect sizes together with 30849 participants which met the inclusion criteria of meta-analysis were selected. The meta-analysis of the relationship between trait gratitude and prosocial behavior included 95 independent samples (N=26850), and 41 independent samples (N=3999) were used to analyze the influence of state gratitude on prosocial behavior. Heterogeneity test indicated that random effects model was appropriate for the meta-analysis. Main-effect test findings demonstrated that there was a significant positive correlation between trait gratitude and prosocial behavior (r=0.41, p<0.001). The moderator analysis revealed that trait gratitude measurement tools moderated the relationship between gratitude and prosocial behavior. However, the age of participants, measurement tools of prosocial behavior and culture had no moderate effect. In addition, the induction of state gratitude significantly impacted on prosocial behavior, with a large effect size (d=0.78, p<0.001). No moderators were found. The p-curve analysis showed that the p-curves of the two meta-analyzes were both significant right skew states, indicating that the relationship between the trait gratitude and prosocial behavior and the effect of state gratitude on the prosocial behavior both had real effects, not caused by publishing bias or p-hacking.

The Relationship between Self-esteem and Suicide Ideation in High-grade Pupils:The Mediating Effects of Social Anxiety and Doubt Learning Value
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2018, 6 (7):  406-414.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2018.07.002

As an important part of self-awareness, self-esteem plays an important role in predicting mental health. However, previous studies on the mechanism between adolescent suicide and self-esteem were still very limited. This research adopted the method of cluster sampling with 314 five and six grade pupils in order to explore the relationship between self-esteem and suicide ideation in high-grade pupils and the mediating roles of social anxiety and doubt learning value. The results showed that: (1) Self-esteem was negatively correlated to social anxiety, doubt learning value and suicide ideation. Social anxiety and doubt learning value were positively correlated to suicide ideation. (2) Self-esteem negatively predicted suicide ideation directly. Meanwhile, social anxiety and doubt learning value played the partial mediating roles in the relationship between self-esteem and suicide ideation in high-grade pupils. These findings suggested that we should pay more attention to cultivate childrens self-esteem and help children with peer interaction problems and learning difficulties in the practical work to guide them grow up healthily and comprehensively.

The Effect of Different Moral Events and Social Relation Types on Moral Judgment
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2018, 6 (7):  415-423.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2018.07.003
    Abstract ( 306 )   PDF(pc) (742KB) ( 494 )   Save
Using scenarios experimental method, the study aimed to explore how an individuals moral judgment was influenced by different moral events and social relation types. Employing 7 (seven types of social relations, between participants)×2(two types of moral events, within participants) mixed design, the study presented participants with descriptions of the two types of moral events related with one of the seven social related people. 1120 middle school students from twelve rural middle schools in Jiangxi Province participated in the experiment, with 160 students for each relationship condition. The final dataset consisted of 969 participants. Results showed that an individuals judgment of whether a social related others violating moral behavior should be condemned was influenced by different social dyads significantly. ANOVA analysis showed that an individuals judgment of whether a social dyads conduct of violating moral behavior should be condemned was significantly affected by different social related others and moral events, and the interaction effects of social related types and moral events were significant. An individuals judgment of whether a social others conduct of violating moral behavior should be condemned also varied with different types of social oders and genders, for each moral type, the main effect of gender was significant. Contrary to male students, female students judged the social related others violating behavior more severely, especially in father-son dyad and brother-hood dyad.

The Relationship between Self-Control and Integrity from the Perspective of Resource Theory:The Moderating Effect of Self-Regulatory Fatigue
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2018, 6 (7):  424-430.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2018.07.004

To investigate the relationship between self-control and integrity, as well as the moderating role of self-regulatory fatigue in the relationship between self-control and integrity. 1013 college students from Guizhou, Hunan, Anhui were investigated by using the Self-Control Scale, Self-Regulation Fatigue Scale and Self-Description Questionnaires Integrity Scale. All the measures attained good reliability and validity. All the data were transferred to a computer and analyzed by AMOS 24. 0, SPSS 24. 0 and PROCESS plugin. Results: (1) There were pairwise correlations among self-regulation fatigue, self-control and integrity; (2) Self-control positively predicted integrity. (3) Self-regulatory fatigue played a mediating role in the impact of self-control and integrity, the more serious the fatigue, the less the influence of self-control on integrity. Conclusion: Self-control can directly affect integrity, but this effect would be fluctuated by self-regulatory fatigue.

The Correlation between College Students Degree of WeChat Use and Their Loneliness:The Mediating Role of Self-Control
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2018, 6 (7):  431-437.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2018.07.005

With a total of 461 undergraduate students as subjects, this study investigates the correlation of college students loneliness, self-control and their degree of WeChat use by adopting the Loneliness Scale, the Self-Control Scale for College Students and the Scale of Degree of WeChat Use. The results are as follows: (1) The percentage of excessive WeChat users was not large (14. 8%), and science students scored significantly higher than liberal arts students. (2) The degree of WeChat use had a significantly positive correlation with loneliness but a significantly negative one with self-control. And loneliness was negatively correlated with self-control. (3) Self-control played a mediating role between degree of WeChat use and loneliness, and the mediating effect accounted for 24% of the total effects. Our findings indicate that the degree of WeChat use partly influences college students loneliness through self-control.

Human Basic Values: Theory, Applications, and Current Trends
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2018, 6 (7):  438-448.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2018.07.006
    Abstract ( 1299 )   PDF(pc) (693KB) ( 1305 )   Save
Based on the theory of human basic values, we focus on three research themes and discuss the applications and trends of the theory, including (a) the differences and associations between values and morality in psychology studies, (b) the formation of values via intergenerational transmission, and (c) the effects of value tradeoffs and activation on behavior. Over the past 30 years, although a large number of valuable methods and tools have been developed for the study of basic values, the theory focuses on the cross-cultural consistency of value contents and structure. Against this backdrop, it is important to examine the cultural differences in values. Future research not only needs to expand the research themes and paradigms, but also needs to explore a framework of indigenous value research.
