Abstract: Theory provides direct motivation for peoples moral self-regulation as an effective motivational system. For individual, moral self adjusting is a relatively independent cognitive processing, it processes moral self image through the cognitive structure of “theory of mind” so as to realize the dynamic evaluation of moral self consciousness. On the one hand, because peoples moral self-regulation is influenced by social culture and context, certain behavior of moral self consciousness and the ideal of moral self image is not consistent so the individuals will maintain the balance of the moral self-regulatory mechanism through the theory of mind. On the other hand, the feedback mechanism of moral self-regulation is regulated by the interpretation of psychological theory. Based on relevant theories, a psychological model of moral self-regulation can be constructed. According to the model, the moral self-regulation formed the corresponding feedback mechanism based on the interpretation level of psychological theory. On the basis of feedback mechanism, psychological theory further activates moral identity. The model focuses on the internal influencing factors to discuss the moral self-regulation. The future research can further explore the mechanism of psychological theory on moral self-regulation by focusing on two main lines: one is the study that how the predictive function of psychological theory intervenes the intervention of moral self-regulation. The second investigation is the lifelong development of the relationship between psychological theory and moral self-regulation. These results can provide a more solid empirical basis for the cultivation of individual moral autonomy.

Key words: theory of mind, moral self-regulation, moral self-image, moral self-perception, moral identity
