In order to elucidate the mechanisms, and boundary conditions of mentoring relationship on protégés’ work attitudes, this study conducts a quantitative synthesis by means of meta-analysis. A total of 103 independent studies, comprising 126 effect sizes, 33617 study samples, are systematically integrated from 101 qualified articles. The results indicate that: (1) Protégés’ perceived organizational support and self-efficacy mediate the influence of mentoring relationship on protégés’ job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Further examination through tests of mediation differences indicates that the mediating effect of protégés’ perceived organizational support is significantly greater than that of protégés’ self-efficacy. At the same time, the mentoring relationship also indirectly influences the protégés’ job satisfaction and organizational commitment through a chain-mediated process involving the protégés’ perceived organizational support and self-efficacy. (2) Cultural context moderates the relationship between mentoring relationship and protégés’ work attitudes. Specifically, in collectivist, high-power-distance, and long-term oriented cultures, mentoring relationship has a stronger positive influence on protégés’ job satisfaction and organizational commitment compared to individualistic, low-power-distance, and short-term oriented cultures. These findings not only contribute to a deeper understanding of the positive effects of mentoring relationship but also provide practical guidance for mentoring relationship practices.

The Impact of Bullying Victimization on Externalizing Problems among Junior High School Students: A Short-term Follow-up Study
    LIU Chenxu, ZHAO Xianzi
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2024, 12 (5):  273-282.
    Abstract ( 223 )   PDF(pc) (1161KB) ( 726 )   Save

Based on the assumption of violence cycle and general stress theory, this study explores the longitudinal impact and mechanism of bullying victimization on externalizing problems among middle school students. A survey was conducted on 962 junior high school students in Hebei Province using the Delaware Bullying Victim Scale Student Questionnaire (DBVS-S), Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire Student Questionnaire (SDQ-S), Adolescent Emotional Regulation Scale, and Children and Adolescents Peer Relationship Scale, with an interval of six months (the number of valid questionnaires was 920 and 858 respectively). The results showed that early experiences of bullying victimization among junior high school students not only directly affect later externalizing problems, but also indirectly affect later externalizing problems through the vertical mediating effect of peer relationships, as well as the vertical chain mediating effect of expression inhibition and peer relationships. This study reveals the mechanism of the externalization of bullying victimization, which has a certain significance for reducing the externalization of junior high school students.

Development and Preliminary Exploration of Chinese Word Remote Associates Test

    Abstract ( 306 )   PDF(pc) (1684KB) ( 2079 )   Save

Remote associates test (RAT) and its variant Compound RAT (CRAT) are the most commonly used experimental materials to reveal the neural mechanism of convergent thinking and insight, as well as to measure individual creative potential. Compared with CRAT, RAT is more suitable for cross-cultural research. However, direct revisions to the RAT are unsuitable due to linguistic and cultural differences and the diversity in Chinese word association methods, necessitating the development of the Chinese Word RAT (CWRAT). Based on the classical hierarchical theory of association and the association characteristics in Chinese context, this study developed 80 CWRAT items, enhancing item parameters such as difficulty, insight level, and association methods. Given the non-uniqueness of answers, a gradient scoring model was implemented.Validity tests indicated significant correlations of CWRAT with creative analogical reasoning, creative achievement, and openness to experience. Using Latent Class Analysis (LCA) with association methods as classification indicators, the items were categorized into three groups. C1 and C3, characterized by higher probabilities of symbolic/metaphorical associations, showed higher levels of insight, whereas C2, involving more conventional associations, indicated lower levels of insight and difficulty. These results demonstrate that the variance in the insight experience of CWRAT is influenced by different association methods. This measurement not only enriches the toolkit for assessing creativity in the Chinese context but also provides new material for cross-cultural comparisons in creativity.

The Application of The Experimental Methods in Corruption

    Abstract ( 156 )   PDF(pc) (1359KB) ( 633 )   Save

This paper reviews the research on corruption conducted using the experimental paradigm in recent years, while also comparing the strengths and limitations of different experimental paradigms, hoping to flourish the corruption research in experimental paradigm in China. The experimental paradigm on corruption can overcome the unobservability of corruption behavior, manipulate variables precisely, and examine the causal relationship, which has superiority in corruption research. The experimental paradigms on corruption can be classified into three types: scene simulation paradigm, game paradigm and field experimental paradigm. Each paradigm has its own characteristic. By using these paradigms, research examined the effect of related factors (e.g., culture, experience) on corruption behaviors and examined the effectiveness of anti-corruption strategy (e.g., high salary, supervision mechanisms). In the future, scholars should try more experimental methods to evaluate the efficiency of multi-anti-corruption policies, to develop measuring tools of individuals’ intention of corruption, to analyze the dynamic developing process of corruption, or to explore the mechanism of group corruption.

The Reflection and Prospects on the Effectiveness of Current Gratitude Intervention Research
    Wang Yifan, Liang Hongyu
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2024, 12 (5):  308-318.
    Abstract ( 193 )   PDF(pc) (1416KB) ( 441 )   Save

Gratitude intervention is an intervention method that utilizes specific gratitude strategies to positively impact the well-being of the target population (or mitigate negative impacts). As a crucial approach in positive psychological intervention, the effectiveness of gratitude intervention is a primary concern for researchers. Fundamentally, the effectiveness of gratitude intervention requires confirmation through various valid gratitude intervention research results. However, there is skepticism about whether current gratitude intervention studies are effective at all stages of implementation. Therefore, this paper provides a certain analysis and reflection on the effectiveness of current research on gratitude intervention from three aspects: the logic of achieving intervention goals, the alignment of strategy selection, and the influencing factors of intervention implementation. In addition, exploring the intrinsic mechanisms that facilitate the effectiveness of gratitude intervention, enriching the pathway model of gratitude intervention from an interactive perspective, exploring the applicable boundaries of gratitude intervention, and studying the patterns of gratitude intervention in the Chinese cultural context are all future directions to enhance the effectiveness of gratitude intervention research.
