Previous research on age-related differences in the sunk cost effect has predominantly concentrated on the influence of task characteristics and individual traits. The impact of relevant information in decision-making contexts, particularly the trustworthiness of interaction partners, has been largely overlooked. This study aims to examine how the trustworthiness of interaction partners impacts the sunk cost effect across different age groups, with a particular focus on how age-related differences are shaped by the types of trustworthiness information during various stages of interpersonal interactions. Based on two experiments, the results indicated that trustworthiness influenced the sunk cost effect in an age-dependent manner, with older adults encountering a greater sunk cost effect when interacting with highly trustworthy faces. Furthermore, the facial trustworthiness of interaction partners continues to influence older adults' sunk cost effect during interaction, whereas younger adults are primarily influenced by facial trustworthiness in the early stages and behavioral trustworthiness in later stages of interaction. This research emphasizes the significance of implementing tailored strategies for individuals across various age groups when designing information dissemination methods and decision support systems.

The Impact of Perceived Economic Mobility on Individual Intertemporal Choice:The Moderating Role of Scarcity

The study employed a combination of questionnaires and experiments to explore the effect of perceived economic mobility on intertemporal choice through four studies, as well as the moderating role of scarcity. The results showed that: (1) Perceived economic mobility significantly predicts individuals' long-term preferences in intertemporal choice; and (2) Scarcity was found to moderate the positive relationship between perceived economic mobility and intertemporal choice. These findings contribute to deepen the understanding of how perceived economic mobility affects individuals' psychology and behavior, provide a new perspective for empirical research on intertemporal choice, and offer important insights for individuals in making reasonable economic plans for the future.

The Effects of Cleanliness Priming and Moral Event Types on Moral Judgment: The Moderating Effect of Emotion

    Abstract ( 107 )   PDF(pc) (1127KB) ( 221 )   Save

This study examined the effects of cleanliness priming and moral event type on moral judgment, as well as the moderating role of emotion. Experiment 1 utilized a mixed experimental design and found an interactive effect of cleanliness priming and moral event type on moral judgment. Specifically, moral judgment tended to be more stringent in cases of direct cleanliness priming when the event type was purely moral. Experiment 2 employed a between-subjects design and found that cleanliness priming led to more lenient moral judgments when individuals felt disgust or anger, but stricter moral judgments when they felt pleasure.

The Plasticity of Visual-Spatial Information Processing in Chinese Children with Developmental Dyslexia: Evidence from a Mental Rotation Experiment
XIANG Zuqiang, FU Xinghe, XU Wen, LI Suling

    Abstract ( 117 )   PDF(pc) (1725KB) ( 343 )   Save

Visual-spatial information processing is essential for reading proficiency. This study selected second-grade (reading initiation stage) and fifth-grade (reading application stage) children with developmental dyslexia to examine differences in their visual-spatial information processing abilities through a mental rotation experiment. The experiment involved both "real character" and "non-character" mental rotation tasks. The results indicated that fifth-grade children with dyslexia significantly outperformed second-grade children in the "real character" task, while no significant differences were found in the "non-character" task. These findings suggest that educational interventions and learning experiences are more effective than physiological maturation in improving the visual-spatial information processing abilities of children with developmental dyslexia, therefore, early intervention for children with developmental dyslexia is effective.

    Abstract ( 156 )   PDF(pc) (2365KB) ( 523 )   Save

Facial attractiveness, which impacts every aspect of people's lives, has garnered attention from academics and the general public. Corresponding to the development of artificial intelligence technology, it’s possible to construct computer models for predicting facial attractiveness. Consequently, numerous facial attractiveness databases have been created. The facial features extracted by these databases can be summarized into three categories: formal aesthetics, evolutionary aesthetics and data-driven features; the algorithm of the prediction models can be classified into symbolism and connectionism. According to the face features and modeling method, the aesthetic and algorithmic logic of facial attractiveness database have been reviewed and summarized, moreover, the driving forces behind the development of these databases has been identified. Future research should focus on establishing standardized dynamic databases. Furthermore, it is also important to explore the essence of facial beauty from an interdisciplinary perspective.
