    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (7):  385-393.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.07.001

    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2017, 5 (7):  394-402.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2017.07.002

The researchers are attaching more importance to the sibling relationships with the launching of “one family two children policy”. The sibling relationship quality has more effect on the adolescent adjustment. The links between sibling relationships and college adjustment and loneliness and potential moderators of these associations were examined using the sample of 215 freshmen. The results showed that sibling intimacy was higher for samesex dyads, while the age difference of sibling was smaller, the more conflict. The sibling intimacy was more important than sibling conflict in predicting the adjustment and loneliness, while the sex, sibling gender composition, age difference and birth order moderated the relationship of each other significantly. The mechanism and longitudinal effect of sibling relationship should be investigated further.

In recent years, social network sites (SNS) are more and more popular among the Chinese, especially in college students. As a new communication instrument, SNS provides better opportunities for undergraduates to build and maintain a network of online friends, which has a very significant effect on college students psychological development. However, the association between SNS use and selfesteem is still unclear. The aim of this study was to find the effect of SNS use on selfesteem and the further exploration was to investigate the mediating effect of the number of online friends and the gender difference between them.Totally 418 subjects were adopted in the data analysis model. The results indicated that: (1) SNS use, selfesteem and the number of online friends were significantly positively correlated with each other; (2) the effect of SNS use on selfesteem was through the complete mediating role of the number of online friends; (3) the effect of SNS use on selfesteem was moderated by gender, the positive prediction of SNS use on selfesteem was only found in female. From the present study we can draw a conclusion that SNS use was beneficial to selfesteem through the complete role of the number of online friends, but there was a gender difference between them, suggesting that the female Chinese college students may benefit more than the male ones.

The results showed that: (1)The main effect of money priming was significant which mean that helping behavior in the money priming condition was significantly less than helping behavior in the subliminal affective priming condition. (2)The main effect of subliminal affective priming effects was significant which meant that helping behavior in the neutral emotions condition was significantly less than helping behavior in the positive and negative emotions condition. (3)The money priming and subliminal affective priming had a significant effect. In the positive emotions condition, money priming could reduce helping behavior significantly. In the tropical fish priming condition, helping behavior had significant difference between the positive and neutral emotions condition, helping behavior had significant difference between the negative and neutral emotions condition, but helping behavior did not have significant difference between the positive and negative emotions condition.

College students can be in closer contact with others and develop intimacy in their dormitories. Whereas unsatisfied roommate relationship is still one of the most serious potential threats for security of college life, as for dormitory conflicts, aggressive behaviors induced by individuals lower sociometric status could be one of the reasons. Three studies was conducted to explore the relationship between college students dormitory sociometric status and their aggressivenesss and the major finding were: (1) Individuals perceived sociometric status in dormitory were negatively correlated with their aggressivenesss. (2) Peer-assessment sociometric status could negatively predict college students aggressivenesss. (3) College students in high social exclusion group showed higher aggressive tendencies compared with students in low social exclusion group. But sociometric status have no effect on aggressive tendencies induced by social exclusion from roommates.

Escalation of commitment refers to the phenomenon that investors still invest resources in the previous investment even when the feedback is negative. Selfjustification theory, selfpresentation theory and prospect theory provide the explanations for this phenomenon. Many factors such as personality, emotion and cognition of investors, initial liability, sunk cost and risk of decision-making in investment projects as well as the external pressure, objectives, and cultural context all have impact on the escalation of commitment. It is important for investors to understand the mechanism and impact of the escalation of commitment, properly adjust their mindset, identify investment objectives and collect comprehensive information so as to avoid escalation of commitment and make a more rational decision.
