Relationship Between Dormitory Sociometric Status and Aggressiveness Among College Students

Abstract: College students can be in closer contact with others and develop intimacy in their dormitories. Whereas unsatisfied roommate relationship is still one of the most serious potential threats for security of college life, as for dormitory conflicts, aggressive behaviors induced by individuals lower sociometric status could be one of the reasons. Three studies was conducted to explore the relationship between college students dormitory sociometric status and their aggressivenesss and the major finding were: (1) Individuals perceived sociometric status in dormitory were negatively correlated with their aggressivenesss. (2) Peer-assessment sociometric status could negatively predict college students aggressivenesss. (3) College students in high social exclusion group showed higher aggressive tendencies compared with students in low social exclusion group. But sociometric status have no effect on aggressive tendencies induced by social exclusion from roommates.
