A total of 408 college freshmen were recruited to investigate the relationship between creativity tendencies and three factors, i.e., depression, anxiety, and stress, at two–time points over two months with a cross–lagged model. This study revealed: (1) The risk and imagination scores of creativity tendencies significantly decreased over time, but there was no significant change in the challenge and curiosity dimensions of creativity tendencies, depression, anxiety, and stress scores; (2) While the depression significantly and positively predicted imagination, it negatively predicted curiosity and challenge; (3) The depression and risk mutually influenced each other; (4) The regression coefficients of anxiety, stress, and creativity did not reach statistical standards. There are two key takeaways. Firstly, this study contributes to the creativity literature by showing that creativity tendencies lead to depression. Secondly, future research should examine the interplay between creativity tendencies, anxiety, and stress.

The Influence of Parental Psychological Control on Problem Behavior in Children with Intellectual Disabilities:The Role of Self–control

    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2022, 10 (9):  522-529.
    Abstract ( 261 )   PDF(pc) (643KB) ( 534 )   Save

In order to explore the relationship between parental psychological control, self–control and problem behavior of children with intellectual disabilities, 72 children with intellectual disabilities were investigated by experiment and their parents and teachers were investigated by questionnaire. The results showed that: (1) There is a significant positive correlation between parental psychological control and problem behavior of children with intellectual disabilities, so does the relation between self–control and problem behavior. (2) Parental psychological control can significantly predict conduct problems, hyperactivity–inattention and the total scores of problem behavior in children with intellectual disabilities. (3) Self–control plays a moderating role in the relationship between parental psychological control and problem behavior of children with intellectual disabilities. For these children, greater self–control abilities can buffer the influence of parental psychological control on their problem behavior.

The Relationship between Achievement Goal and Academic Self-efficacy of High School Students: The Mediating Effect of Time Management Disposition and the Moderating Effect of Teaching Model
    WANG Shuai
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2022, 10 (9):  530-542.
    Abstract ( 342 )   PDF(pc) (782KB) ( 1332 )   Save

In order to explore the influence of achievement goals on academic self–efficacy, as well as the mediating effect of time management disposition and the moderating effect of teaching model, 878 high school students were selected as subjects, of which 335 high school students received online teaching and 543 high school students received classroom teaching. The results showed: (1)Achievement goal and the other three dimensions (master approach, master avoidance and performance approach) are significantly positively correlated with academic self–efficacy, and performance avoidance is significantly negatively correlated with academic self–efficacy; (2)Time management disposition plays a partial mediating effect between achievement goal, master approach, performance approach and academic self–efficacy; and plays a suppression effect between master avoidance and academic self–efficacy; (3)The teaching model moderates the latter half of the mediating role between achievement goal and academic self–efficacy. Therefore, the impact of achievement goal on academic self–efficacy is a moderating mediating effect.

Emotional Inertia and Rumination in Depression
Li Yatong, ZHANG Lina, BAI Jingjing, DING Xiaobin
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2022, 10 (9):  543-552.
    Abstract ( 742 )   PDF(pc) (684KB) ( 2139 )   Save

One of the defining features of depression is a loss of mental flexibility, manifested by emotional inertia and rumination. Although emotional inertia and rumination play independent roles in the onset and maintenance of depression, they are also closely related, specifically, rumination predicts the occurrence of emotional inertia and both are significantly correlated with emotional attraction factors. In addition, the relationship between rumination and emotional inertia may be influenced by abnormal activity in the lateral prefrontal cortex (lPFC), executive control network (ECN) related brain regions and functional connections. Future research should focus on the causal relationship between emotional inertia and rumination in depressed individuals, the relationship between emotional inertia and rumination in different psychiatric disorders, and intervention strategies for emotional inertia

Revision and Application of the Chinese Version of Ryff’s Scale of Psychological Well-being in People with Disabilities
LANG Rui, WANG Yuling, Li Zuoshan
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2022, 10 (9):  564-573.
    Abstract ( 499 )   PDF(pc) (649KB) ( 1112 )   Save

To examine the reliability and validity of the Chinese Version of Ryff’s Scale of Psychological Well-being (C-PWBS-42) in people with disabilities. Meanwhile, to explore demographic factors that affect the psychological well-being of the disabled. C-PWBS-42 and the revised C-PWBS-16 were administered to two valid sample (n1 = 352, n2 = 513) through Disabled Persons’Federation channels, respectively. Other 40 disabled persons were retested after an interval of 4 weeks. We found that the revised version of C-PWBS-42 include 16 items (C-PWBS-16), consisting of four factors, namely, environmental mastery, life growth, positive mind, and autonomy. C-PWBS-16 demonstrated satisfactory coefficients for construct, convergent, discriminant and criterion validity. Internal consistency reliability of total scale and four factors ranged from 0.71~0.91, and test-retest reliability ranged from 0.76~0.93. The demographic differences in psychological well-being of the disabled are as follows: women are higher than men, congenital disabilities are higher than acquired disabilities, and severe disabilities are higher than mild disabilities; the higher the level of education, the higher the psychological well-being; people with physical disabilities have the lowest psychological well-being. All in all, the revised C-PWBS-16 is reliable, valid, and suitable for measuring psychological well-being of people with disabilities. Gender, congenital/acquired disability, disability level, disability type and education level are important factors influencing psychological well-being of the disabled.

Why is Embodied Cognition Interoceptive? Review of Embodied Cognitive Psychology: A Dialogue between Brain, Body and Mind
    CHEN Xiangqun
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2022, 10 (9):  574-576.
    Abstract ( 421 )   PDF(pc) (550KB) ( 1482 )   Save

How does the body affect cognition causally?  In their new book Embodied Cognitive Psychology: A Dialogue between Brain, Body and Mind, Chen Wei et al. take a different approach, choosing to answer this hot question in cognitive science from a psychological perspective.  Taking a skeptical stance, the authors argues that traditional embodied cognitive theories only emphasize the interaction between the brain, mind and body, and are far from clarifying the role of the body in cognition. Therefore, the authors puts forward a concept of “interoceptive embodied cognition”(EMC), which regards the psychological activities of interoception as a bridge between the inner and outer aspects of embodied cognition, thus providing a theoretical framework for embodied cognition in psychological sense, and greatly deepening and expanding the concept and connotation of embodied cognition.
