Abstract: The ninth Psychology and the Development of China Forum was successfully held at Nankai University in December 2019. This forum launched a diversified discussion under the theme of “indigenous practice and the construction of the system of public psychological services from a global perspective.” Experts from different universities in mainland China and Taiwan reached three major consensuses on the future direction of Chinese psychology and the system of public psychological services. First, Chinese psychologists should broaden the horizons of psychological sciences, innovate their existing paradigm, and reform their methodology to prompt more powerful responses to social reality. Second, the direction of the construction of the system of public psychological services should pay more attention to the macro approach of cultivation of social mentality, rather than the development of the mental health service system. Third, traditional Chinese culture resources can provide rich theoretical and practical supports to the development of indigenous psychology, and psychologists should utilize them more creatively and efficiently to establish the autonomy of Chinese psychology.
