In Real and Web Situations: How Collective Action Tendency is Motivated by the Dual Pathway Model

Abstract: Collective action which is often aimed at challenging groupbased discrimination or group disadvantage or at ending or preventing an injustice occurs at any age. In the past over 20 years, social psychologists discovered instrumentality, social identity and groupbased anger as the fundamental antecedents of collection action and started to construct the interpretative models, such as the dual pathway model of collective action. Since nowadays modern society is going to the Network times and internet has evolved being a platform to launch collective action. The study based on the dual pathway model of collective action, using experimental research paradigm, and focused on how collection action tendencies motivated by groupbased anger and group efficacy in the real and web situations. The results indicated that: (1) The collective action tendency of group members was significantly higher in web situation than in real situation. (2) In web situation, collection active tendency was affected by moderating emotional path. (3) In real situation, collection active tendency was affected by moderating both emotional path and rational path.
