Abstract: Experiential avoidance(EA) is the phenomenon that occurs when a person attempts to alter the form or frequency of private experiences of disgust and the contexts that occasion those experiences. Its a core concept of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and putting forward this concept has important meanings in classification of mental disorders and psychotherapy. Relational Frame Theory can account for the pervasiveness of EA. Currently, there are three measurements created specifically to assess EA. Studies in the future may enrich the contents and methods of studies of EA, probe into the interventional studies of mindfulness technique on EA, and strengthen the Chinese research of experiential avoidance.

Key words: experiential avoidance, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Relational Frame Theory, mindfulness
