Abstract: This study constructed a moderated mediation model to examine whether online feedback mediated the relation between passive social networking sites (SNS) use and social self-efficacy, and whether this mediating process was moderated by extroversion. Based on convenient sampling, 507 college students from Guangdong Province were recruited to participate in this study. The results show that: (1) passive SNS use significantly negatively predicted social self-efficacy; (2) online feedback played a partial mediating role between the passive SNS use and social self-efficacy; (3)The latter half path of the mediation effect were moderated by extroversion. In term of high extroversion individuals, online feedback played a positive role on social self-efficacy, but for individuals with low extroversion, the positive effect was not significant.

Key words: passive social network sites use, online feedback, social self-efficacy, extroversion
