The phenomenon that human tend to shift their attention to the corresponding direction in which others are looking is known as gaze cueing. This fundamental behavior is modulated by threats which the facial social clues and visual clues implying. Compared with the threatening visual information, the threatening social information may be processed preferentially. However, existing studies have not clarified whether this priority effect appears in gaze cueing. The present study addressed this question by manipulating the perceptual load and using the gaze cueing paradigm. In experiment 1, participants were asked to memorize the identities of different faces, and then judge the targets under different facial conditions to verify whether they were more likely to follow faces with threatening social information than threatening visual information. In experiment 2, the processing characteristics of different threats were investigated by manipulating perceptual load. The results showed that: at the low load condition, it did not show the processing advantage of threatening social information; however, at the high load condition, the faces with only threatening social information enhanced the gaze cueing for male. While for female, the effects of threats on gaze cueing disappeared. In conclusion, these results revealed that for male, the threatening social information were processed preferentially in gaze cueing. For female, processing of both two kinds of threat were modulated by the attention resource.

Based on the situated focus theory of power, two studies were conducted to explore the influence of power on cognitive flexibility. Study 1, a questionnaire was used to measure the trait power of the subjects and cognitive flexibility, and found that there was a moderate positive correlation between the trait power and cognitive flexibility. Study 2 combined lexical priming paradigm and task switching paradigm to explore the role of state power in balancing cognitive flexibility and stability. It was found that the main effect of switching condition was significant, and the switching cost under preservation condition was significantly lower than that under distraction condition. Individuals with a high sense of power had a higher level of cognitive flexibility, while those with a low sense of power were not flexible enough to pursue their goals and have higher cognitive stability.

    Abstract ( 282 )   PDF(pc) (762KB) ( 375 )   Save
The present study explores the influence of the depletion of selfcontrol resources on police aggression and whether the influence can be affected by different types of behavior consciousness priming. The research adopted the singlefactor betweensubjects design. The independent variable of experiment 1 was selfcontrol resources. The independent variable of experiment 2 was the behavior consciousness priming of police in the state of ego depletion, including lawabiding behavior consciousness priming and lawbreaking behavior consciousness priming. The dependent variable of both experiments ware the level of aggression, represented by the number of provided chili pepper. Results: (1) There were more aggression in the depletion group than in the nondepletion group; (2) Compared with the no-priming group, the law-abiding behavior consciousness priming group showed less aggression, and the law-breaking behavior consciousness priming group showed no significant increase in aggression. Conclusions: (1) The police in the state of self-depletion are more likely to behave aggressively toward suspects; (2) In the state of ego-depletion, the priming of law-breaking behavior consciousness will not lead to more aggression; the priming of law-abiding behavior consciousness may reduce aggression.

To explore the relationship among the ethnic identity, self-identity and self-esteem of the Miao nationality college students in GuiZhou Province, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 300 Miao nationality college students by using the ethnic identity questionnaire, adolescent identity crisis inventory and Self-esteem. questionnaire . The results showed: (1) The dimension scores of “affirm” and “approve” are both higher than the dimension score of “exploring” in the ethnic identity; senior’s score in ethnic identity are higher than the junior grade, science students’ scores in ethnic identity are higher than the arts students too; (2) The ethnic identity can significantly predict the level of individual self-esteem of Miao undergraduate in GuiZhou Province, the self-identity plays a complete mediating role between those. So the Conclusion is: mental health educators can improve the level of minority undergraduate’s self-esteem from the way of improving their national identity and self-identity.

    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2020, 8 (5):  291-297.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2020.05.005
    Abstract ( 468 )   PDF(pc) (644KB) ( 592 )   Save
This study constructed a moderated mediation model to examine whether online feedback mediated the relation between passive social networking sites (SNS) use and social self-efficacy, and whether this mediating process was moderated by extroversion. Based on convenient sampling, 507 college students from Guangdong Province were recruited to participate in this study. The results show that: (1) passive SNS use significantly negatively predicted social self-efficacy; (2) online feedback played a partial mediating role between the passive SNS use and social self-efficacy; (3)The latter half path of the mediation effect were moderated by extroversion. In term of high extroversion individuals, online feedback played a positive role on social self-efficacy, but for individuals with low extroversion, the positive effect was not significant.

Third-party Punishment in the Context of Interactional Injustice:A Mediation Model of Moral Outrage
    WANG Jingyi, ZHANG Shanshan
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2020, 8 (5):  298-304.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2020.05.006
    Abstract ( 235 )   PDF(pc) (672KB) ( 351 )   Save
This study conducted a situational simulation experiment with employees as subjects to explore the impact of interactional injustice on third-party punishment behavior and the mechanism of moral outrage. The results showed that compared with the interactional justice situation, the third-party subjects had a higher level of punishment for the unfair leader in the interactive injustice situation. Moral outrage had a partial mediation between interactional injustice and third-party punishment. Based on these results, our study confirms that the third-party punishment phenomenon existed in the context of organizational interaction injustice and provides supporting evidence for the “deontic model” of organizational justice.

This study aimed to understand the present situation of College Students ambivalence over emotional expression, and explore the effect of ambivalence over emotional expression on psychological symptom and the mediating role of social constraint. Six hundred college students in three universities completed ambivalence over emotional expression questionnaire, social constraint scale and psychological symptom scale. Results were as followed: (1) Meta analysis showed that there were no significant differences between Chinese college students and that of other countries in the world on ambivalence over emotional expression (95% CI was overlapped); (2) Ambivalence over emotional expression was positively correlated with psychological symptom and social constraint, social constraint was positively correlated with psychological symptom; (3) The mediating role of social constraint between ambivalence over emotional expression and psychological symptom was significant, and the proportion of the mediating effect was 20.04%. Conclusion were drawn: Ambivalence over emotional expression may be a risk factor of college students psychological symptom, and social constraint serves as a partial mediating role between ambivalence over emotional expression and psychological symptom.

The Intervention of Municipal Solid Waste Sorting of  Urban Residents from the Perspective of Social Norm
    YANG Xinya, GENG Liuna
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2020, 8 (5):  312-320.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2020.05.008
    Abstract ( 358 )   PDF(pc) (684KB) ( 565 )   Save
To solve the problem of municipal solid waste (MSW) pollution, scholars have paid much attention to the psychological factors and intervention measures of MSW sorting. As a simple and easy-to-implement psychological intervention method, social norm intervention can not only avoid the shortcomings of economic and policy incentives effectively, but stimulate the internal motivation of individual environmental protection. From the perspective of social norm, this paper explains the possibility of intervention in urban residents waste sorting. Several normative information intervention strategies are put forward based on the analyze of the feasibility and effectiveness of social norm intervention in changing individual’s waste sorting attitudes and behaviors. Future studies should explore the mechanism of the influence of social norm on waste sorting, formulate differentiated information of social norm, normative information feedback intervention combined with economic stimulus, try to integrate social norm in environmental protection education, and carry out cross-cultural comparative study on the impact of social norm.
