Social Identity Theory and Research Status

Abstract: The relation of individuals and groups is an important subject of social psychology studies, and social identity theory is one of the most influential theory in this area. Since Tajfel and Turner proposed social identity theory in the late 1970s, the theory constantly progressed and played a valuable role up to now in social psychology studies. But the related research methods or research status should be further improved and supplemented. This article reviewed the related theories, methods and research status to retrospect the development of social identity researches.
