Influence of English Word Pairs Difficulty and Learning Ways on Memory Accuracy

Abstract: In order to investigate the memory effect of different words on difficulty and learning style under the condition of English learning materials, this study adopted two factors (learning method: interval learning, centralized learning) × 2 (word difficulty: low difficulty, high difficulty) experimental design, the dependent variable was the recall accuracy. The experimental results showed that there was no significant difference in the accuracy of learning between the two learning methods, and between the difficulty of the words. For the low difficulty words, there was no significant difference in the accuracy of different learning methods. For the higy difficulty words, the memory accuracy of the concentrated learning was significantly higher than recollecting at intervals. This study provided a basis for students to adopt concentrated learning strategy to learn English to improve their English, and lay the foundation for a more effective English learning strategy.
