Research on Self Depletion in the Last Decade:Phenomenon, Theory and Applications

Abstract:

In the last decade, the research on ego depletion has mainly focused on three aspects: (1) Phenomenon controversy: Whether ego depletion exists; (2) Theory debate: Which theory can better explain ego depletion; (3) Application expansion: Explore how self depletion affects daily behavior and social relations. Future research in this field may consider improving and perfecting experimental methods, exploring physiological basis, and paying attention to applied research. That is to obtain the key evidence of the existence of self depletion, at the same time adopt a more natural way to study the phenomenon of self depletion in life, and develop effective programs to alleviate the adverse effects of self depletion.
