Abstract: With a total of 461 undergraduate students as subjects, this study investigates the correlation of college students loneliness, self-control and their degree of WeChat use by adopting the Loneliness Scale, the Self-Control Scale for College Students and the Scale of Degree of WeChat Use. The results are as follows: (1) The percentage of excessive WeChat users was not large (14. 8%), and science students scored significantly higher than liberal arts students. (2) The degree of WeChat use had a significantly positive correlation with loneliness but a significantly negative one with self-control. And loneliness was negatively correlated with self-control. (3) Self-control played a mediating role between degree of WeChat use and loneliness, and the mediating effect accounted for 24% of the total effects. Our findings indicate that the degree of WeChat use partly influences college students loneliness through self-control.
