The Relationship between Self-Control and Integrity from the Perspective of Resource Theory:The Moderating Effect of Self-Regulatory Fatigue

Abstract: To investigate the relationship between self-control and integrity, as well as the moderating role of self-regulatory fatigue in the relationship between self-control and integrity. 1013 college students from Guizhou, Hunan, Anhui were investigated by using the Self-Control Scale, Self-Regulation Fatigue Scale and Self-Description Questionnaires Integrity Scale. All the measures attained good reliability and validity. All the data were transferred to a computer and analyzed by AMOS 24. 0, SPSS 24. 0 and PROCESS plugin. Results: (1) There were pairwise correlations among self-regulation fatigue, self-control and integrity; (2) Self-control positively predicted integrity. (3) Self-regulatory fatigue played a mediating role in the impact of self-control and integrity, the more serious the fatigue, the less the influence of self-control on integrity. Conclusion: Self-control can directly affect integrity, but this effect would be fluctuated by self-regulatory fatigue.
