This
study adopts the qualitative research method to explore the concept structure
of the calling of policeman and the main factors affecting the policeman’s
practice of living the calling. We define the calling of policeman as an inner
incentive to motivate policeman to follow the summons of the Party, contribute
and sacrifice for the interests of the nation and the people, take initiative
and devote to realizing their own values in the work. The concept of calling
includes four dimensions: faith summons, prosociality, initiative and
self-realization. Ideal, belief, responsibility, having the courage to take the
responsibility, self-growth and team atmosphere are the main factors affecting
the implementation of the mission. Good team atmosphere, appropriate job
rewards and organizational environment where a person’s self-value can be fully
realized are needed to transform the calling into the motivation for living the
calling. The research builds a theoretical foundation for the study of calling
in Chinese conditions.
