Abstract:

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between childhood psychological maltreatment and depression, as well as its internal mechanism—the mediating role of intrusive rumination and the moderating effect of connectedness to nature. A total of 455 college students were investigated by childhood psychological maltreatment questionnaire, the event related rumination inventory, the connectedness to nature scale and the depression scale. The results showed that:(1) When gender were controlled, intrusive rumination played a partial mediating role in the relationship between childhood psychological maltreatment and depression; (2)The relationship between intrusive rumination and depression was moderated by connectedness to nature. The results uncovered the relationship and underlying mechanism between childhood psychological maltreatment and depression.

Key words: childhood psychological maltreatment, depression, intrusive rumination, connectedness to nature
