As one thrive cultural phenomenon on the Internet, the short video is deeply embedded in college students daily life by its “short” and “small” symbolic. The short video is an important medium for college students to construct their national identity. It is also an important occasion for them to shape national, ethnic, and social identities. National identity is not instinctive, on the country, it is the result of the construction. Previous theoretical studies had claimed that national news reports were conducive to promote national identity. From an empirical point of view, this study adopts a single category implicit association test to explore the different kinds of national short videos make contribute to constructing college students national identity in ethnic minority areas. The results suggest that after watched short videos about national content, the D score of the test was significantly higher than 0, which indicated that watching short videos related to national content could significantly improve college students national identity. The D score of history and culture short video was significantly higher than those of the other three short video groups, which indicated that short videos relevant to history and culture can better promote individual national identity.

WANG Zhi, TIAN Jing, ZHU Ziqiao
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2021, 9 (6):  330-342.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2021.06.002

This study aimed to examine intervention effects of emotion recognition in children with autism spectrum disorder and to support solid evidence for special education teachers. literature searched and yielded 22 data from randomized controlled trials, involving 817 children with autism spectrum disorder. Additionally, some potential moderating variables (the intervention methods, the length of the intervention period, the intensity of intervention, and parents involvement, etc.) were mainly analyzed. The findings suggested that (1) the effect sizes for emotion recognition achieved d=069. (2) the intervention effects moderated significantly by the intervention methods, and the effect sizes of technologyassisted intervention (d=090) were larger than that of nontechnologyassisted intervention (d=037). However, intervention environment, family participation, regions, intervention duration, and intervention frequency variables have no moderating effect. These results indicated that technologyassisted intervention can improve significantly the capacity of emotion recognition in children with autism spectrum disorder.

    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2021, 9 (6):  343-351.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2021.06.003
    Abstract ( 236 )   PDF(pc) (660KB) ( 258 )   Save
In order to investigate the relationship among aggression, theory of mind and the ability of understanding idioms, 421 adult female prisoners were enrolled and were instructed to finish questionnaires. The questionnaires included Buss-Perry Aggression Scale, “Reading the Mind in the Eye”  Test, and the questionnaire of understanding idioms. The results showed that: (1) Compared with those who were at the low level of education, the female prisoners with higher level of educational had a better ability of understanding idioms and theory of mind; Young women prisoners are better at theory of mind; Violent and drugrelated female prisoners had higher levels of aggression. (2) The ability of understanding idioms positively predicted theory of mind but negatively related with aggression. There was no significant correlation between theory of mind and aggression. (3) There was no direct effect between theory of mind and aggression. However, the ability of understanding idioms played an indirect effect between theory of mind and aggression. This study suggested that theory of mind and the ability of understanding figurative language played a copredictive role in adult female prisoners aggression.

Psychometric Evaluation of the Weapon Imagery Projective Test and Its Application in Interpersonal Conflict Intervention
    YU Xiaoxia, YUAN Yuan
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2021, 9 (6):  352-361.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2021.06.004
    Abstract ( 249 )   PDF(pc) (670KB) ( 294 )   Save
Based on the theory and practice of Imagery Communication Psychology, this study conducted a psychometric evaluation on the Weapon Imagery Projective Test (WIPT) and explored its application in interpersonal conflict intervention. Study 1 investigated the reliability and validity of the test. The results showed that the WIPT had a good item discrimination, the retest reliability of two months interval was 060, the correlation with immature defense mechanism was 018, the correlation with mature defense mechanism was -018, and the correlations with AQ-CV (verbal aggression, angry, and hostility) were 015~021. Study 2 employed a repeated measurements design and conducted group intervention on weapon imageries of 30 participants over a 1-month period. A control group without any treatment was also recruited for comparison. The results showed that, for the intervention group, participants degree of physical response and relationship impairment caused by interpersonal conflict was reduced, and participants adverse physical symptoms and negative emotions were also reduced. At the same time, there was a decline in WIPT, immature defense mechanisms, and negative copings for the intervention group, while these changes could not be observed on the control group. The findings suggest that WIPT could be used in measurement of interpersonal conflict coping. Shortrange intervention on the weapon imagery could help to improve the interpersonal conflict coping, and to promote individuals physical and mental health.

    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2021, 9 (6):  362-372.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2021.06.005
    Abstract ( 192 )   PDF(pc) (920KB) ( 377 )   Save
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of prior actual contact experience and imagined contact experience on the explicit and implicit attitudes of Chinese college students. In experiment 1, the Implicit Association Test was used to assess the implicit attitudes of Chinese college students towards own (Chinese) and other (African and European) races. In experiment 2, Chinese college students with different prior contact experiences were instructed to imagine positive, neutral and negative contact. Then their implicit attitudes and explicit attitudes towards the Africans were assessed through the Single Category Implicit Association Test and explicit questionnaire respectively. The results showed that compared with other races, Chinese college students have more positive attitude towards their own race. Further, they have more positive attitude toward Europeans than Africans. And imagined contact with other race can improve individual's implicit attitude towards other race. In the case of less prior contact experience, imagined contact can improve individual's explicit attitude to other race.

Learn from Errors: Unsuccessful Retrieval Attempts Facilitate Learning
    XIE Yaqi, QU Kejia,
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2021, 9 (6):  373-381.  DOI: 10.16842/j.cnki.issn2095-5588.2021.06.006
    Abstract ( 231 )   PDF(pc) (677KB) ( 511 )   Save
The benefit of unsuccessful retrieval attempts is the profitable effect of failure to retrieve information from memory on subsequent learning and memory. Through analyzing the previous studies, we outlined the research paradigms, influencing factors and theoretical explanations of the benefit in this study. On this basis, we pointed out that future research should further consider discussing the theory of the benefit in-depth; focusing on the role of unsuccessful retrieval attempts in procedural knowledge; further exploring ways to improve the accuracy of metacognitive judgments of the benefit.
