Study on Attentional Bias of Emotional Faces in Emotion Induced Situations

Abstract: To investigate the attentional bias of normal individuals to emotional faces in emotion-induced situations, this study adopt a mixed experimental design of 2 (emotional states: positive emotion, negative emotion)×2(gender of the subjects: male, female)×3(The character of emotional faces: positive, neutral, negative), the dependent variable was the reaction time. The experimental results showed that (1) Compared with the neutral face, the subjects had attentional bias toward the emotional face; (2) The interaction between emotional states and emotional faces was significant. In the positive emotional state, subjects showed attentional bias towards positive emotional faces; In the negative emotional state, subjects showed attentional bias towards negative emotional faces. (3) The interaction of emotional faces and genders was significant. Males had attentional bias towards positive emotional faces, females had attentional bias towards negative emotional faces.
