Abstract: Need for cognitive closure is a cognitive motivation, a kind of trait construct, including 5 variables as preference for order, preference for predictability, decisiveness, and discomfort with ambiguity and closed-mindness. The variable of decisiveness was not closely connected with other variables but did its best during quick decision making. Seizing and freezing were the two important periods during the generation of need for cognitive closure. The property of performance was very important during the generation of need for cognitive closure. Need for cognitive closure was affected by such factors, mainly as ambiguity context, ambiguity intolerance, time pressure, noise, feature framing, etc. Future studies are expected to study in a cross-culture and longitudinal ways, interpret it in different domains, and construct theories of need for cognitive closure during the processing from uncertainty to certainty.

Key words: need for cognitive closure, ambiguity context, decisiveness
