The Relationship among Social Identity, Collective Selfesteem and Intergroup Prejudice of the New Generation of Migrant Workers:The Effect of Threatening Situation

Abstract: In the perspective of social identity, this study investigates 340 new generation of migrant workers. At first, it investigates social identity, collective selfesteem and intergroup prejudice of the new generation of migrant workers, and analyzed relationships about the three variables. Second, under the threatening situation, we analyzed the changes about the three variables. The results showed that: There are positive correlation among the social identity, collective selfesteem and intergroup prejudice. The collective selfesteem has a partial mediator between social identity and intergroup prejudice. The threatening situation improved the levels of social identity and collective selfesteem of new generation of migrant workers, and enhanced their intergroup prejudice.
