"Traffic-Light" Nutrition Labels Help People with Low Self-Control Make Healthy Decisions

Abstract:

Health decision making research has been widely concerned by researchers in various fields. In this study, we used questionnaires and laboratory experiment to explore the influence of self-control level on health decision making, and to further explore the moderating effect of traffic light nutrition label. The result shows that self-control has a significant positive predictive effect on health decision making. What’s more, the traffic light nutrition label plays a moderating role in the relationship between self-control and healthy decisions, the traffic light nutrition label can effectively help people with low self-control to make healthy decisions. The research results supplement previous relevant theories and have practical significance for low self-control patients’ health decision making.
