Achievement Goal Orientation: Concept, Structure, Influencing Factors, and Consequences

Abstract: Since Dweck put forward the concept of achievement goal in 1980s, scholars have carried out a lot of research in the field of education, organization, sports, and so on. Based on achievement goal orientation literature, this paper analyzed the model development process of goal orientation from the original single factor to the latest 3*2 framework, and its influencing factors like individual and situational elements. Next, we discussed the relationship between goal orientation and academic achievement, selfregulation, creativity, job performance and job attitude. Future research should further standardize the terminology on this filed, consider the interaction between the dimensions, and carry out multilevel and indigenous research.
