  • Online:2022-04-01 Published:2022-05-23

Abstract:

Artificial intelligence (AI) application is gradually infiltrating into daily aspects of human society. AI applications can greatly conserve resources for users, such as time and efforts. But most people are still reluctant to accept the services and suggestions provided by AI applications. Therefore, this paper aims to discuss the factors that influence individuals' acceptance of AI advice from three main perspectives. Specifically, by adopting JAS (Judge-Advisor System)  paradigm, we discuss it from the decision-maker (human) aspect (e.g., cognition, emotion, attitudes), advisor (AI) aspect (e.g., external features, personality characteristics), as well as human-AI interaction (system) aspect. With the developing stream of intelligent machines, we also sort out relevant theories that explain individuals’ acceptance of AI’s advice, such as Technology Acceptance Model, Computers As Social Actors Paradigm, the Mind Perception Theory and Predictive Processing Theory. Finally, based on the arguments, future research for acceptance of AI applications can focus on more detailed underlying mechanism, situational factors, and build a more dynamic and comprehensive psychological model.

Key words: artificial intelligence’s advice;advice-taking;human-robot interaction, judge-advisor system
