Abstract: To develop and validate the Scale of Awe of College Students that measures ones experience of awe. The theoretical dimension was constructed and the preliminary questionnaire was compiled based on prototypical model of awe and extensional model, combined with the results of open-ended questionnaire and relevant researches. Then, items analysis and exploratory factors analysis was conducted in the first sample (n=487), and confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis and validity analysis were performed in the second sample (n=353) to form the final scale. 29 items were selected and seven factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, including vastness, connectedness, tininess, self-diminishment, compliance, a need for accommodation and physical sensations. The cumulative variance contribution rate was 6104%. Confirmatory factorial analysis confirmed that the seven-dimensional model fitted well. The results of reliability analysis, content validity, construct validity and criterion validity showed the Scale of Awe of College Students reached the psychometric standard and can be a valid tool to measure ones experience of awe.
