Abstract: In order to explore the relationship between mobile phone dependence, loneliness and cognitive failure of higher vocational students, 673 college students in a vocational college in Hunan province were surveyed by using Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale (MPATS), UCLA Loneliness Scale and Cognitive Failure Questionnaire. The results showed that: (1) The cognitive failure score of female students was significantly higher than that of male students, and there was no significant difference in cognitive failure among vocational students of different grades. (2) Mobile phone dependence was significantly positively correlated with cognitive failure and loneliness, while loneliness was significantly positively correlated with cognitive failure. (3) Loneliness played a partial mediating role between mobile phone dependence and cognitive failure, with mediating effect accounted for 1703% of the total effects. These results indicated that mobile phone dependence can directly predict cognitive failure, and can also indirectly predict cognitive failure through the mediating effect of loneliness.
