The ERP Study of Emotional Pictures Processing After the Priming of Own Name or Others Name

Abstract: There were two experiments in the study, and it adopted ERP technique with high resolution of time to investigate the priming effect of own name or others name on nonattentional processing of emotional pictures. The results revealed that the mean amplitude of LPC was weaker in emotion condition than the neutral condition after own name priming, and the amplitude of LPC was marginally weaker in positive condition than in the neutral condition (p=0.093); after others name priming, the mean amplitude of LPC was greater in emotion condition than the neutral condition, and there was a significant difference (p<0.05) between the negative condition and the neutral condition. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that own name priming can stimulate an individual's selfconcept, improve one's selfcontrol, and promote the completion of tasks, and then inhibit the individual's nonattentional processing of emotional pictures. But others' name priming may not.
