Due to the particularity and importance of the university counselors, it is of great significance to deepen the understanding of their calling and its role. Based on the work-family enrichment theory, this study explores the relationship between living a calling, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction among Chinese university counselors, and examines the mediating role of family-work enrichment. With a sample of 267 university counselors, the results shows that living a calling significantly and positively relates to work-to-family enrichment and family-to-work enrichment, and in turn work-to-family enrichment significantly and positively relates to job satisfaction and life satisfaction. This indicates that work-to-family enrichment plays a mediating role in the relation between living a calling, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction.

Based on the analysis of influencing factors of using “serving chopsticks and spoons”, this paper investigated the impact of three nudge strategies, namely framing effect, dynamic descriptive norm and moral nudge. The results show that: (1) Currently, Chinese people have a relatively positive attitude towards “serving chopsticks and spoons”, but they seldom take action. (2) The main influencing factor of using serving chopsticks and spoons at home or in public is the advice of experts in the field of medicine and health. (3) When one person does not follow the rule in the dinner party, the whole group fails to use serving chopsticks and spoons. (4) Compared with loss framework and moral nudge, dynamic descriptive norm tends to exert a greater influence in this regard.

The Relationship between Family Function and Adolescent Internet Adaptation: A Dual Moderating Model
ZHAO Hang, JI Aitong, JIN Cancan
    Psychology: Techniques and Application. 2022, 10 (10):  596-606.
    Abstract ( 215 )   PDF(pc) (777KB) ( 916 )   Save

The current study aimed to explore the relationship among family function, peer relationships, and Internet adaptation among adolescents of different ages. We recruited 1285 middle and high school students from Beijing who reported their family function, peer relationships, and Internet adaptation. The results of the Pearson correlation showed that family function and peer relationships were significantly positively correlated with positive Internet adaptation while negatively correlated with negative Internet adaptation. Age was negatively associated with positive Internet adaptation and positively correlated with negative Internet adaptation. The results of the moderating effect test indicated that peer relationships enhanced the relationship between family function and positive/negative Internet adaptation. Age moderated the moderating effect of peer relationships on the relationship between family function and positive Internet adaptation but did not play the same role on negative Internet adaptation. With age, the interaction between family function and peer relationships played an increasingly important role in predicting positive Internet adaptation. These results may imply that we can promote the formation of good Internet adaptation from the two aspects of family and peer according to the different ages of adolescents.

ZHONG Jianan, SU Yi, WANG Yonger, YU Linhan, LU Xiaojia, QIAN Luyao

    Abstract ( 166 )   PDF(pc) (689KB) ( 516 )   Save

Fatigue perception is an important factor affecting whether students can participate in online courses effectively. There is, however, a lack of reasonable measures for online course fatigue. This study developed a fatigue scale for online courses and found that the scale had a stable and clear two-factor structure (physiological fatigue and content fatigue), as well as good psychometric properties, which can be used as a useful tool for measuring fatigue perception of online courses. Further results showed that teacher humor related to physical fatigue positively and content fatigue negatively. Meanwhile, affective and cognitive engagement mediated the negative relationship between teacher humor and content fatigue.

    Abstract ( 851 )   PDF(pc) (793KB) ( 1756 )   Save

The current study was aimed to explore the structure of “lying flat” and develop a “lying flat” questionnaire suitable for young people. Basing on the analysis of relevant literature, the initial questionnaire was prepared by using interview method and content analysis method. 272 participants were selected for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis, 163 participants were selected for confirmatory factor analysis. All 435 participants was selected for the reliability test to test the group differences. Moreover, correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the relationships among self-esteem, achievement motivation and well-being. The above results showed that the scale consists of twelve items, including two factors: “Awakening lying flat” and “Avoiding lying flat”. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed that the two-dimensional model fitted well. Correlation analysis and regression analysis showed that “lying flat” was significantly and negatively associated with self-esteem and achievement motivation. The “lying flat” questionnaire has high reliability and validity, which meets the psychometric features, so it can be used as an effective tool for measuring “lying flat” in future.

    Abstract ( 544 )   PDF(pc) (752KB) ( 1061 )   Save

A psychologically rich life, which can also be interpreted as a new form of well-being, includes a variety of interesting and perspective-changing experiences. At present, the psychologically rich life questionnaire, archival research method and experimental research method have been developed to measure it . The personality of openness to experience and short trips were the strong predictors of psychological richness. Furthermore, we compared the concept of psychologically rich life with happy and meaningful life. It was concluded that the three aspects of life are different in the emotional experience, the objective value of experience and outcomes which they contributed to. In our future studies we will continue to explore the similarities and differences between these three aspects of life, especially focusing on benefits such as wisdom and creativity that psychological richness may bring to individuals. Also, we invite other cross-cultural researchers to give their contribution in this relatively under-examined field, paying special attention to psychological richness in relation to Chinese culture.
