The Effect of Double N-Back Training Task on Working Memory in Elementary School Students: An Intervention Study

Abstract:

The existing double N-Back research for working memory training is mostly used to improve working memory in adults, while in this study elementary school students in grades 4 to 6 were selected for a one-month intervention study to further verify and expand the population adapted to this task. The results showed that (1) the double N-Back training task has a significant improvement effect on the working memory of elementary school students; (2) the double N-Back training task also has a significant improvement effect on the general intelligence of elementary school students, indicating that working memory training has a significant spillover effect in learning, and revealing the close relationship between working memory and individual intelligence. The research will help teachers integrate working memory training in daily teaching activities, and guide the active development of actual education work and improve student learning efficiency.
