The Influence of Peer Relationship of College Students on Internet Addiction:The Mediating Effect of Core SelfEvaluations

Abstract: Research had shown that peer relationship may be an important predictive indicator for the internet addiction. Studies had also found a close correlation between core selfevaluation and internet addiction. However, the underlying mechanism among peer relationship, core selfevaluation and internet addiction was still to be explored. The present study investigated 303 college students by approaches scaling their core selfevaluations, internet addiction and interpersonal relationship. Results showed that a good peer relationship and core selfevaluation was an effective predictive factor for the internet addiction, and that core selfevaluation as a key variable played a mediating role in correlation between peer relationship and internet addiction.
