The Effect of Self control on College Freshman's Aggression:A Chain Mediation Model through Perspective Taking and Interpersonal Trust

Abstract: To probe into the multiple mediating models of perspective taking and interpersonal trust on the relationship between selfcontrol and aggression, 497 college freshmen were measured with the Selfcontrol Scale, interpersonal reactivity indexperspective taking, Propensity to Trust Survey and ShortForm BussPerry Aggression Questionnaire, respectively. The results indicated that various significant positive correlations were found among selfcontrol, perspective taking, interpersonal trust, and both of them were negative correlated with aggression. The mediating effect test showed that selfcontrol affected aggression not only directly but through two indirect paths: through the mediating role of interpersonal trust and the chain mediating roles of perspective taking and interpersonal trust. This study found that perspective taking and generalized trust played multiple mediation effects between self control and college freshman's interpersonal trust.
