Abstract: To explore the relationship between college students' perceived mattering, life satisfaction and learning engagement, and the mediating effect of life satisfaction between perceived mattering and learning engagement. This study tested 471 undergraduate students with University Student Mattering Scale, College students' Life Satisfaction Scales and Chinese version Learning Engagement Scale. The results demonstrated that: (1)There was a significant positive correlation between perceived mattering, life satisfaction and learning engagement. (2) Perceived mattering had significant positive predictive ability to life satisfaction and learning engagement, and life satisfaction can significantly positively predict learning engagement. (3) Life satisfaction had a mediating effect on perceived mattering and learning engagement. In summary, this study uncovered the relationship and underlying mechanism between perceived mattering and learning engagement and deepened the influence of perceived mattering on individuals' cognition and behavior. Therefore, we can enhance college students' learning engagement by improving their perceived mattering and life satisfaction in the future.
